Colin Bennett: 48 weeks

Wednesday, April 30th...One month away from the big O.N.E! Soaking up all the baby I can these next few weeks.

Weight: Still staying somewhere around the 20 pound mark 

Health: Happy and Healthy!

Social: We went on vacation! On Friday afternoon we packed up the car (to the brim!) and drove down to the Eastern Shore to spend the weekend with Aunt Barbara and Uncle Ralph. The weekend was beautiful! Great weather, great company and a great baby! We played, went outlet shopping, went out to eat, went to the park and even put our toes in the sand! We also stopped by a friend of UR and AB's to check out their mini farm! C loved exploring!

Sleep: Through the night, every night.

Diet: new this week: milk! Starting to introduce in order to ween off of formula.

Clothes: 12 month pants, 9 and 12 month onesies (mostly 12), 12 month jammies and size three diapers.

Baby Gear Love: Mommy and Uncle Andrew's old toys: "little people" bus, farm house and of course, BOOKS! C is in LOVE with reading books and turning the pages. :) Seriously, melt my heart. He also has really taken to his anywhere chair from PB Kids. He looks so grown up! 

Crying:  "alligator tears" for the most part. (What do you mean I can't touch that Mommy? Oh yea? Watch me stick out my lip so you give in)

Likes: Exploring!

 

Dislikes: see above: alligator tears.

Postpartum: Work it out, often

Eating a worm. Yes, that's right- my lovely little boy ate a worm on the playground at school. Gross. Gag. Seriously. We have a true little boy on our hands!

Colin Bennett: 45 Weeks

April 9th marked Colin's 45th week with us! An eventful week for sure- one that included a two night stay at A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children.

Weight: 19-20 give or take a few ounces. Probably on the low end of that due to two days of no eating. :-/

This photo breaks my heart. 104.9 fever.

Health: Fever, tonsillitis and IVs. On Thursday, 4/3 my Dad watched Colin due to the fact that he had a high fever (102.5) the day prior and a visit to the pediatrician confirmed that he should stay home to fight off a virus. When I got home from work, My Mom and I took his temp and it was sky high (104.9). We immediately packed our bags and headed to the Children's hospital. We were admitted after a few hours in the emergency room due to the fact that C's throat was covered in puss and sores and he was unwilling to eat. Poor guy was on an IV for two days. The docs confirmed that it was a virus and it had to run its course but to be safe, they did give him a dose of IV antibiotics as well.

Social: C spent two nights (Thursday 4/3 and Friday 4/4) in the hospital. We rested the remainder of the week. However, we did get in a nice little afternoon at the playground.

Sleep: C is finally sleeping through the night!

Diet: new: hummus and yogurt! C also tried vanilla pudding in the hospital. Hey- we were desperate for him to eat anything!

Clothes: 12 month pants, 9 and 12 month onesies, 12 month jamies and size three diapers.

Baby Gear Love: The wonderful doctors at AI DuPont Children's hospital. C also took his first ride on a baby swing and it was a BIG hit!
 

Crying: C was so miserable this week. Poor guy.

Likes: Snuggling

Dislikes: IVs and catheters

Postpartum: I've been a running fool!

Milestones: First hospital stay :(

Discharge day! There is that smile we know and love!

Positive milestone- first ride in a swing and down a slide with Mommy!

 

This week, Mommy also got to celebrate one of her best friend's bridal showers and bachelorette. We love you, Aunt Kelly!

Colin Bennett: 44 Weeks

On April 2nd, Colin turned 44 weeks old. He did not have a fun 44 week old birthday. Poor guy had a fever of 102.5- to the pediatrician we went.

Weight: 19.8 to be exact 

Health: Ear pain, teething and a fever- Oh MY!

Social: We had a quiet week/weekend. We got a TON done around the house (cleaning, steam cleaning and hanging things on the walls). C's nursery is FINALLY done in the new home. A comparison post to come very soon! On Sunday our dear friends Chip and Kristin came over with their kiddos for brunch and a play date. We had a blast. Granddad also met us at the pediatrician on Wednesday and came home to spend the night because C wouldn't be able to go to school on Thursday. Otherwise, C is VERY social. He plays so well with the other kids at school and has made adorable little friends.

Sleep: Sleep training is working! He has woken up a few nights and cried for 10-15 minutes but its becoming less frequent. I can officially say- he is no longer sleeping in our bed (thank god).

Diet: new this week: blueberries (cut in half), eggs and bagels

Clothes: 12 month pants, 9 and 12 month onesies, 12 month jamies and size three diapers.

Baby Gear Love: The walker- c loves it! 

Crying: Teething pain

Likes: Snuggling and exploring all his surroundings now that he is mobile!

Dislikes: not being able to touch everything he wants (aka when we move him away from things he can't touch).

Postpartum: Finally a co-worker noticed that I dropped a few lbs. I also really really stepped up the workout game.

Milestones: Official 3rd and 4th tooth on the way

Colin Bennett: 43 Weeks

What a week for our little man. We hit some major milestones! 
On March 26th, Colin turned 43 weeks- just a few days shy of 10 months. Hard to believe we are so close to the 1 year mark.

Weight: 20 pounds

Health: Back to happy and healthy!

Social: We had a relaxing week. C did get to spend the day on Saturday with his Aunt Julie and Uncle Mark. Mommy and Daddy got to go on a day date to the city!

Sleep: Hit or miss but we did decide to start sleep training. Little man is old enough to be able to put himself back to sleep if he wakes up during the night.

Diet: new this week: chicken! C loves it! We boiled it and cut it up in cubes. He's also a huge fan of cheese.

Clothes: 12 month pants, 9 and 12 month onesies and size three diapers. We are also transitioning to 12 month pjs. Gram and I went shopping on Sunday and did some damage at Carters.

Baby Gear Love: Boppy- C sleeps in between us during the night (I know, I know) and he uses it for his morning bottles. We also have been loving our JOGGER again! Yay for spring and some outdoor weather. 

Crying: At night when he wants to snuggle

Likes: Food, food and more food! We have a bottomless pit on our hands ;)

Dislikes: Sleeping in his cribby

Postpartum: Down a few pounds this week, which is always nice! We also decided that we want to wait a few years before giving Colin a baby brother or sister so we decided to make a more permanent prevention solution in place.

Milestones: Oh the milestones this week!!! 

1st birthday party planning

...but who cares about that when he started to CRAWL!!! C took his first "crawls" on 3/21 and was pulling himself up on his knees by 3/22. He has been a ball of motion ever since. He has picked up speed every day. 

C also started using the big boy tub on 3/24. We have officially outgrown our whale tub.

Colin Bennett: 42 Weeks

On the 19th of March Colin turned 42 weeks old! This face melts my heart. He is simply the sweetest guy.

Weight: 20 pounds

Health: We seem to be battling a constant on/off stuffy nose

Social: We had our first weekend visitors this week! Aunt Barbara and Uncle Ralph visited us and we had a very fun weekend. Saturday we went out to lunch and walked around down town. We also ran some errands and got a few things done around the house (of course!). Our favorite purchase is our new Ergo baby carrier- C loves it and so do we!

Sleep: No luck sleeping in his own bed. Oy.

Diet: new to the diet: table food! Frozen organic veggies, cheese, beans, soup, waffles

Clothes: 12 month pants! We officially are too tall for the 9 month pants.

Baby Gear Love: Ergo baby!

Crying: At night when he wants to snuggle

Likes: Getting outside for some walks this week and of course he still LOVES bath time!

Dislikes: Spinach- I've tried to disguise it and he always detects it. Hates it!

Postpartum: Hubs and I started T-25. Its a great work out and I love that we can do it together.
Milestones: On the 15th C started really pulling himself up on toys! SO SO close to crawling- any day now!

First St. Patty's day. We still celebrate even though we aren't Irish ;) We had a family dinner at our house the Saturday prior and had sheppards pie, corned beef poopers and a green martini!

Colin Bennett: 40 and 41 weeks

On the 5th of March, C turned 40 weeks old.

 

On the 12th, he turned 41 weeks!

I hate to combine posts as I haven't missed a week yet but we've been so busy with unpacking and cleaning that posting was nearly impossible. We had a big push to feel settled and all other activities were pushed to the side while we got the "house in order". Some exciting things did happen- Colin had his 9 month appointment and was given the green light to eat table food! C is 50th percentile for weight and head circumference and 75th percentile for height. My little string bean.

Weight: 19.8 pounds! Had he not been sick in Feb, I am certain he would have broken the 20 pound mark at his 9 month appointment.

Health: The doc was thrilled at how healthy he is! He's growing big and strong and is learning new "tricks" every day. C is SO close to crawling- he gets on all fours and then falls on his tummy.

Social: We had a relaxing weekend two weeks in a row while getting some house projects done. We also had Aunt Julie visit and then our first family dinner with Gram, Granddad and Uncle Andrew.

Sleep: C slept most of the week in his own bed his 40th week and then regressed the 41st week. Here's hoping we get more consistency.

Diet: Fruits and Veggies (all homemade), puffs, oatmeal and rice.

Clothes: 9 month pants are getting questionable. Waiting on a flood kiddo?

Baby Gear Love: Any toys that make noise! His basketball game is a big favorite. He's got quite the shot!

Crying: When he wants attention. ;) Not sure where he gets that, certainly not me.

Likes: Eating and snuggling

Dislikes: morning drop off at daycare. 

Postpartum: can't wait for running season to start. I'm also missing breastfeeding recently. I miss the bond.

Nine Months: Colin Bennett

Colin Bennett,
On March 1, you turned 9 months old!  This month, there wasn't a "29th" so we celebrated on the 1st. :)

What a busy month we had- we moved into our new home, you started daycare ("school") again and you are just about there with crawling! You get on all fours and rock- as soon as you realize you can gain leverage with the back knee- you are going to be off!

 At nine months old you are...

Weighing in at 19.8 pounds and are getting so tall measuring 28 inches long. You are 75th percentile for height and 50th for weight and head circumference. The Doctor was thrilled with how healthy you are at your appointment!
You are wearing nine month onesies and twelve month pants for length. You are still in size three diapers and I think we will stay in this size for a little while longer. However, we will be switching to a convertible car seat very soon!

Eating: You have an eight ounce bottle each morning and one before bed then you have two six ounce bottles during the day (11 and 3) and one 2 oz  sippy cup  at lunch. You eat three meals a day. So far you have had: sweet potatoes, banana, carrots, peas, pears, mango, broccoli, green beans, apples, prunes, spinach (which you hate), pineapple, avocado, chickpeas, puffs, cheerios, a whole wheat waffle and baby mum mums. The doctor gave the green light to slowly start introducing table food. She said "the world is your oyster". Here we go! We are excited but will be watching you like a hawk as you feed yourself cheerio size bites. ;)

Loves: You love hanging out with Mommy and Daddy. When we get home from work, you light up with the biggest smile. It truly is the best part of my day. You also still love, love- just like your mama! While you were sick this month, you laid on me and snugged for three days straight- you slept on my chest in the middle of the bed- I couldn't put you down. You love to dance with Mommy and laugh when I sing silly made up songs. We have a few "jingles" that we sing regularly (walk-walk- jiggle jiggle jiggle). You love to play your piano and enjoy your "shapes" or blocks as well. You love your new home and are thriving on a routine, which is so nice to see.

 With that said, for the first two weeks, you were NOT a fan of daycare but you have had some really great days the last few days of the month. Last week was the first time I was able to drop you off without tears- you smiled at your new teacher- Mrs. Sandra.

Sleeping: Change has not been your friend. We are hoping the  new routine will start to help out. In fact, last week (the first week of your 10th month) you slept every night through the night in your own big boy crib! You also were sick the second week in our new house, fever, stuffy nose, vomiting, upset tummy- no good for sleeping.

Milestones:
February 16th- first night in your new home!
February 18th- first day at school!
February 22- first fever (outside of for shots) :(

You also started to "clap hands hooray!" this month. It is adorable when you giggle with delight!

You have several nicknames: your main nick names are Collywood, beebs and beep a da beep. You also occasionally get called bayba c and neenee (when you are upset/fussy).

We've had such a busy few months- you've lived in three states since November! We are looking forward to slowing down and enjoying family time this spring. You are such a joy to be around and we LOVE our family time together. The past three weekends we implimented "snuggle Sunday" where we stay in our pjs and snuggle all Sunday morning- you soak it up! We can't wait to see how you thrive the last few months of your first year. We love you to the moon and back, Colin Bennett!
