Baby Combo Post: 9 week and 2 month updates!

Happy 9 weeks (today) and two months (Monday) to our little man!

Weight:  We had Colin's two month check up yesterday and sweet baby weighs 11lbs 2.8 oz!
Diet: All Mommy's milk!
Baby Gear Love: Colin is obsessed with being in the stroller. We are also still loving the swing and bouncy seat. C is also starting to use his play mat!

Health: The doctor confirmed what we already knew- we have a perfectly healthy and strong little boy.

Social: This week Colin got to go on several lunch dates! He went to lunch on Thursday with Mommy and her friend Parise, Friday we went to lunch with our friend Danielle and Saturday we went to lunch with Daddy and Uncle Mike.

Sleep: Colin has been sleeping through the night... like ALL the way through the night since Saturday (8:30p-6:45a). I think transitioning him to his own room has made a big difference in sleep for all of us. Colin is still sleeping in his rock n' play but it is in his room. He has his sound machine on with white noise and isn't disturbed by Mommy and Daddy. (aka Daddy snores)

Clothes: All 0-3 month onesies, jammies and outfits. I am looking forward to our upcoming beach vacation- I can't wait to hit the outlets and shop for Colin's fall wardrobe!

Crying:  With our new schedule, crying is much less frequent. He does get fussy in the evening for an hour or so but walking outside or swinging helps a great deal. I was also given the green light to try gripe water during the "witching hour" so we'll give that a go this week.

Likes: car rides/stroller rides, being sang to, being outdoors, baths and sitting up like a big boy.

Dislikes: hiccups, poops. Gripe water is supposed to help with hiccups!

Postpartum: Feeling good. Losing some weight slowly but steadily. I lost another pound this week, which was great. I've also been focusing on toning more than the weight. I think if I "firm everything up" I'll feel much better in my clothes. I did "hit my wall" in terms of tiredness. I hadn't really felt exhausted up until this past weekend. I kept going, going, going not really taking any opportunities to nap. I finally hit the point to where I NEEDED sleep. Hubs took Colin on Sunday morning and let me sleep in which was WONDERFUL. I have also been napping when Colin takes his morning nap this week which has helped a lot.

Milestones: Slept ten hours at night, first time having a family day date/first time downtown, first shots, first boo boo (Daddy clipped a tiny spot on his finger when cutting his nails) :(

Miscellaneous: Colin is definitely good at recognizing voices he hears frequently. He turns his head when his Daddy gets home and says hi or when I have my parents on speaker phone.

Colin Bennett-

It is certainly hard to believe that you are two months old already! You are getting so big! You are 75th percentile for height (23.5 inches) and 25th for weight (11lbs 2oz). You are sleeping through the night now, which has been wonderful for all of us! You eat about every two hours during the day with your last feeding by the breast around 5:30. I pump in the morning during your nap so that Daddy can feed you your last meal of the day by the bottle. This gives you guys some bonding time which is nice for the both of you.

You have a "night night routine" that we've been sticking to which is a nice way for us all to wind down from the day. You get a bath around 7 where we play and splash, you get jammies put on by Daddy and swaddled then Daddy feeds you a bottle. While you are eating Mommy reads you 1-2 books then we say the "magic words" (goodnight, sweet dreams, see you in the morning, I love you). These are the same "magic words" that Gram and Granddad used to say to Mommy when she was a little girl! We then turn on your sound machine and put you in your bassinet to fall asleep.

You have a ton of nick names:
Mommy and Daddy- beebs, C, baby C, little man, squeak
Gram and Granddad- little boy, beebalino
Uncle Andrew- lil c's
Aunt Barbara- CB, young boy

You are so active and very strong. You have great head control and can lift your head up while laying on your back. The doctor said that this is the first step in rolling over! You have discovered your hands and have been putting them in your mouth lately and you love to move your arms up and down and kick your feet. You are also showing some interest in toys which has been fun.

You had your first shots and did great! You did cry but calmed down as soon as mommy fed you in the doctors office. You fell asleep and slept all afternoon afterwards. We appreciated Aunt Barbara coming for support!

Lets talk about things to remember...
This month you have really started to stick out that bottom lip when you are upset. It is the CUTEST thing we've ever seen. You say "a wah" when you are too tired to cry but want to let us know you need us. You enjoy being sang to, love sitting up and smile at us intentionally. You slept through the night for the first time on 7/1,  laughed at Mommy and gave a reaction to peak-a-boo on 7/16, had your first trip to Gram and Granddads on 7/12, had your first run in the jogger on 7/11. Such a fun month we've had!

You are growing by the minute and showing us new things almost daily. It is such a joy to be around you and we feel so blessed to be your parents. We love you to the moon and back and want all the best things for you in this life.  We can't wait to see how much you change this month!

Love,
Mama and Daddy
