Colin Bennett- 8 weeks!

Colin Bennett is 8 weeks old today! Time slow down!

Weight:  No official weight check until his 2 month appointment on the 30th. Chubba Bubba is definitely at least ten pounds. Can't wait to see next week!

Health: We have a happy, healthy little baby.

Social: This week Colin got to see his Aunt Kelly Ryan on Wednesday and of course his Gram, Granddad and Uncle Andrew...since we were at their house until Friday and they came to our house for the weekend.

Sleep: We've hit the jackpot! I was beginning to be at my whits end with the evening "fussy time" (more like- Mom and Dad pull your hair out time). Colin would cry for hours in the evening for several weeks straight.
I had read a lot about the "Moms on Call" schedule and how it helps with the fussy time hours. I am not a big fan of "schedules" and like feeding on demand but we were beginning to dread the evenings and my poor hubs didn't get to see any of the sweet baby he loves and adores. The schedule basically outlines feedings and naps throughout the day and an evening routine that gets baby to bed by 8:30. I tried it for the first time on Saturday while hubs went to Richmond with my family to move the remainder of my brother's belongings out of his apartment and back to DE. When hubs got home we had maybe 30 minutes of fussy time and then BAM- sweet baby sleeping until 3 am.  Every day since you could literally set a clock to when he wants to eat and nap which happens to be right on the Moms on Call schedule. We still have 30-45 minutes of "fussy time" before his "night night routine" but he is easily calmed down with his swing, bouncy seat, sitting on the deck with us or a walk in the stroller.
All I did to get my sweet baby back in the evenings was download the Moms on Call Scheduler app and follow their feeding and nap time suggestions for his age. He is even happier during the day (and he was pretty  happy before!)- playing and laughing. I am not going to say it's been a life saver but...
IT'S BEEN A LIFE SAVER!

Diet: All Mommy's milk! Still shooting for six months of breastfeeding. Last week I talked about how I was feeling a little "drained" from feeling like Colin is so dependent on me- the Mom's on Call schedule has helped me feel like a normal person again! I have been able to know exactly when he will need me for a feeding next. This allows me to go to the gym for an hour or so, head to the store if I need to, etc. Happy Mommy, happy baby, happy Daddy, happy life. I got my first milky smile after a feeding yesterday and oh em gee- talk about melting my heart! I really do love bonding with my baby through breastfeeding.

Clothes: All 0-3 month onesies, jammies and outfits. His legs are beginning to be too long for his 3 month jammies! :( I'd say he'll be in six month jammies by the end of August for sure. He's going to be tall like his Daddy! Colin is still wearing size 1 pampers swaddlers.

Baby Gear Love: Colin is obsessed with being in the stroller. He loves his jogger stroller because he can sit up like a big boy and look all around. Sometimes I think he forgets that he's only 8 weeks old! I noticed that he also loves to "feel the breeze" while sitting in the jogger. I will take him out front in the evening while we wait for Daddy to get home and play with him in his stroller- he laughs and plays up a storm! He also loves his bouncy seat and swing as mentioned above.
Lovin' the jogging stroller

Crying:  With our new schedule, crying is much less frequent. He still doesn't like pooping or the hiccups (hiccups tend to set him off).

Likes: car rides/stroller rides, being sang to and sitting up like a big boy. I keep forgetting to put this in every week but our baby LOVES baths!!!

And of course, he lives for snuggle time.

Snuggle time with Daddy!

Dislikes: Being alone, hiccups, poops.

Postpartum: Feeling great! I have been back in the gym this week for the first time since Colin was born. All my previous workouts were runs in the neighborhood or DVDs because I was too scared to leave Colin if he needed me. I loved getting back in the gym and enjoyed an hour or so of "Mommy time". I am definitely going to focus on toning my stomach back up for the next several months while I get off the weight. Right now that is my biggest problem area. Mommy also got a cute new haircut!

Milestones: First time "grasping" a toy- 5/22
Starting to "babble" at Mommy and Daddy

Miscellaneous: Sweet baby has been so happy since implementing a routine!

Colin Bennett-
You are such a remarkable baby. You make Mommy and Daddy smile every day. Even on the days where fussy time got the best of all of us, we wouldn't trade our jobs as your Mommy and Daddy for the world. You are such a sweetheart and we love that you recognize us now and smile/laugh/talk to us. Your little personality is definitely developing each and every day. You certainly are strong willed and know what you like and what you don't! Mommy is having such a fun time with you during the day learning new things! When Daddy gets home from work, we love to show him what we did for the day. We love you to the moon and back.
xoxo,
Mama and Daddy
