Weight: Last Friday we had to take Colin to the doctor for a weight check due to some spitting up. (Turns out, we are worry warts and his spit up was normal/due to a lack of burping). At the appointment our big boy was 8 pounds 11 oz! Growing right on track!
Health: Colin is doing GREAT! As mentioned above, we went to the doctor last week because he had spit up his entire meal two-three times and the nurse suggested bringing him in for a weight check and a quick exam to ensure he did not have something more serious going on. We met with the nurse practitioner (who we LOVE) and she was so helpful- she even drew a diagram of sweet boy's tummy to show us why lack of burping can cause issues. I loved our lactation consultant in the hospital but she was definitely wrong about not needing to burp! He's so much happier and much less gassy!
Social: This week was a calm week in the social department. Colin had visits from his Gram and Granddad this past weekend and our neighbor Danielle and her sweet Mom on Monday.
Sleep: Colin is a good little sleeper. Once he is down for the night, he only wakes up 1-2 times. If we can get him to nurse later in the evening (10-11p) he will sleep until about 4. If he nurses earlier he'll wake up about 2 and then again around 5-6. He also loves to nap on his side now with his hand behind his head. He sometimes fusses until I put him like this- so cute!
Diet: All Mommy's milk! We are still nursing on demand and I'll continue to do so and check for a pattern to emerge. We want to get on somewhat of a schedule and "know" approximately when he'll be ready to eat or take a nap. We want to have an idea of a schedule for daycare.
Clothes: Our big guy is transitioning out of newborn clothes and into 0-3 months. He is in all 0-3 month jammies (his legs are too long for newborn). The 0-3 month onesies are still a little bit big in the body so we can get away with newborn for another week or so. I'm putting him in all the newborn onesies that are too cute before he outgrows them! C is also in size 1 diapers now.
Baby Gear Love: Muslin swaddle blankets (Aden and Anis)- these are great for covering the stroller to protect him from the sun, a lightweight blanket during the day and swaddling at night. These are the best and I highly recommend them! He also loves his swing for naps and bouncy seat for sitting up and looking around. Baby C also likes to stretch out his body and legs now so laying on a blanket on the floor and playing is becoming a favorite as well. We will start trying the play mat now!
Crying: When he's hungry, tired, working on a poop or has a dirty diaper. What we thought was crying for "blowing off steam" was really crying from being hungry/frustrated with Mommy not giving him both boobs at each feeding. (See one month post from yesterday).
Likes: Snuggling and being held. He also loves to be sung to and "danced" around by mommy and daddy. He's very social and loves to be around us.
Dislikes: Being alone- if he's awake, he wants to be with his peeps. He also isn't a fan of pooping.
Milestones: First nail cut- 6/27
First time sleeping through the night- 7/1
Smiling at Mommy deliberately! We love you so much. You are developing a personality more and more every day. You amaze us in so many ways. We are so glad we figured out your gassiness and fussiness in the evenings and that you are much happier now. We love that time with you in the evenings when Daddy gets home and were so sad when you were upset. We can't wait to see what exciting milestones and fun the next week brings!
Love you to the moon and back!
Mama and Daddy
